We’ve been hard at work over the last few months, and we’ve rolled out some pretty good stuff.
Locally, we’ve launched 2 new Asheville websites – RLCElectric.com and RVTAuto.com. Both are built in Wordpress and feature some pretty snazzy looking, updated graphics.
RLCElectric and RVTAuto were both existing sites that needed an update graphically and an update functionally. Both were flagging a little bit on the SEO side, and since Wordpress is an SEO dream, it was a perfect fit for both. Additionally, both sites needed regular updates, and we enabled the client to blog and update at will. Saves time, saves money. Not bad, huh?
Nationally, we developed a simple ecommerce site at AKWilliamsBooks.com for Alyce Williams and her new book “The Only Thing Better than Good is New.” Also built on the Wordpress platform, this simple store site allows visitors to place orders for books, pay with credit card or check and for the author to keep things updated and fresh.

We’ve been looking forward to it quite a while, and while our contributions weren’t huge (flyer, poster, handout, yippee!) we’re honored to be a part, and we really feel that Asheville not only needs something like this, but Asheville deserves something like this. We live in an awesome town, in terms of creativity and action. Lots and lots of creatives, and it’s great to see everyone sharing what they got, knowledge-wise, experience-wise and other-wise.
We completed more (yes, more!) Godspell. Beth was still the costume mistress, and James did more posters and design work. 4 more big shows and 4 more big audiences came to check it out – such a great experience. Next comes Charlotte – only 2 shows, but a big turnout is expected on the first of (hopefully) many cities on a tour of the newest production of Godspell.
Elfy illustration and flash work for a hugely popular candy wholesale website, CandyWarehouse.com. Site construction by the good folks at FastPivot. From concept and sketches to finished, web-ready design. A great collaboration with a great client and a great team of developers. Sweet!
Independent Studios was contracted to produce postcards, the playbill, and a series of posters for the show, along with some guerilla marketing ideas and bits and pieces.
We’re honored to be part of such a wonderful production, put on by wonderful people.
Below is a gallery of the poster series, which were designed in a chronological fashion, revealing more and more information and more imagery from the show. Hand screened by James and Lee, these posters wound up being somewhat of a hit, and it was hard to walk downtown Asheville without seeing a little of our work and a lot of Godspell.

Highland Acting Company in Asheville has chosen Independent Studios to do the marketing, web, design and what-not for their upcoming production of Godspell.
We’re producing hand-printed posters (along with the boys and girls at Image420) in a series of 6, to be released bi-monthly. Some guerilla marketing and funny stuff coming up. We’re looking to build a buzz and some curiosity about the show through less-than-obvious channels. Stay tuned for more!
we’ve been a little remiss on updating our portfolio, our blog and our site in general. it’s not the fault of the cold weather, though – we’re busy with websites (some new, some old, some re-made) and logos. brochures and packages. illustration and coffee drinking.
which brings us to our next point – if you’re looking for a company that has great experience in drinking loads and loads of java, you’re at the right place. we’re available for bean-squeezing consumption on a contract basis. you supply the coffee (only the good stuff, please) and we’ll supply the talent and the man-power. we think you’ll be amazed at our skills.
